Microtechnology remains a driver of medical technology

This year as well, the IVAM Professional Association for Microtechnology will once again be represented at COMPAMED in Düsseldorf – the international trade fair held in parallel with MEDICA from November 17 to 20, 2025. Across around 700 square meters, a vibrant meeting place for the medical technology industry will be created: the IVAM joint stand. Here, more than 50 exhibitors and partners from the international IVAM network will present themselves. Companies and institutes from ten nations across Europe, Asia, and the Americas will be participating. For many years, the IVAM joint stand has been a permanent point of contact for trade visitors looking to discover new technologies and ideas for the medical technology supply industry.

Microtechnology for smart, efficient, and sustainable medical technology

The IVAM product market demonstrates how diverse microtechnology applications have become in medical technology today. Companies and research institutions present developments from the fields of microsystems technology, sensor technology, photonics, microfluidics, and innovative materials. The goal is to make medical devices smaller, lighter, more energy-efficient, more networked, and more sustainable – thereby further improving diagnostics, therapy, and care. Topics such as smart devices, point-of-care diagnostics, imaging, automation, and digital networking play a central role in this context.

Knowledge, exchange, and practice: The COMPAMED HIGH-TECH FORUM by IVAM

A recurring highlight of the trade fair is the COMPAMED High-Tech Forum by IVAM. Across all four exhibition days, the forum will offer specialist lectures, practical examples, and insights into current research. Program topics include smart sensor technologies, laser and photonics applications, and new developments in microfluidics. A hands-on session invites visitors to try out technologies themselves and engage in direct discussions with developers.

Internationality is also emphasized here: pitch sessions by Asian companies and the thematic day “Europe meets North America” bring together experts from all parts of the world. The aim is to foster direct exchange across the entire value chain – from component manufacturing to device development and application.

Technological highlights and trends

The spectrum of showcased technologies is broad: from high-precision sensor and actuator systems to optical and photonic solutions, microfluidic applications, and new materials for medical technology. Visitors can explore systems for minimally invasive procedures, learn about methods for more precise diagnostics and imaging, or experience intelligent implants and networked medical devices. Solutions for automated processes in clinics, laboratories, and care settings, energy-efficient components, and data-based applications also illustrate how microtechnology is shaping the medicine of the future.

The IVAM joint stand at COMPAMED 2025 thus once again provides a comprehensive overview of the technological trends in the industry – and brings together developers, manufacturers, and users from around the world.
